I would like to hear thoughts of the people that use credit cards that give cash back when they buy gas. Were there any catches that you found out about after you got the card and tried to claim your cash back? What should I look for as I’m picking a gas cash back card for me? (I had problems Sad with claiming my points or rewards before. It sucks to learn about limitations or some crazy conditions after you've applied for the card.)

DanV8,

Gas cash back has become really popular lately. I think that Discover Open Road card has some very good options to double its 5% cash back. Meanwhile there are other cards and one that I use is Perfect card from chase. It has really awesome 6% cash back on all gas for 3 months.

Here are the offers I was talking about:

CHASE SAPPHIRE PREFERRED CARD

Chase Sapphire Preferred Card

Intro APR:
N/A
Reg APR:
12.24% Variable*
Annual Fee:

DISCOVER® MORE CARD - NO BALANCE TRANSFER FEE

Discover® More Card - No Balance Transfer Fee

Intro APR:
0%*
Reg APR:
11.99%-20.99% (Variable)*
Annual Fee:
None

Apply for Discover® More Card - No Balance Transfer Fee

DanV8,
It is better to go through terms and conditions before you apply for a credit card. If you have problems to find information the better way is to go to the official site of the card issuer. All information due their credit cards conditions supposed to be there.
Talking about which card you should choose it is really depends on your needs. There are different options of cashback percentage, APR rates and other benefits.

So, what you are saying is that Chase PerfectCard doesn't give you any problems and what they say about it is all true, right? I'll check it out then. What happens after the first three months are over? Are we still going to get some kind of cash back? Is it going to be much lower, if any?

Don't know about Chase Perfect Card, sounds like tricky!
Didn't you think to switch it for another card.
I am using my Discover Open Road for 6 monthes already, and still having my 5% cash back on gas and other auto perchases.

DanV8, think about it!

Chase Freedom is a great cash back card!
If you do not know they offer triple rewards on categories where you spend the most. You can choose Gas rewards and get 3 point on every dolar you spend all the time!

Isn't it a deal for something like first 3 months? Or not even that. Althoughh it does seem like a card that covers pretty much any needs you may have for a credit card. Should be relatively easy to get as well.

Now that my Citi Rewards cards dropped my rewards from 5% to 2%, I am in the market for a new card.
Question Are there any credit cards out there that still offer 5% back on Gas and Groceries?

I have looked around and it seems as no one has these types of cards available anymore.
