Hi,
My friend was in aweful credit situation because of his debts. But he got through that situation with the help of smart people.
I think the first that you have do in bad credit situation is to STOP using your CREDIT CARDS!!!! Otherwise, you'll accumulate your debs even worth.
Put your credit cards away until you have more control of the situation.

This is a god advice. However, sometimes it is easier to say than do. Agree that use of credit card can only make the situation worse. But also I think that there are should be some ways to start paying and reduce these debts. Extra job maybe one option to pay off that pile of credit card bills. But I definitely agree with MoBi use of credit cards needs to be under more control.

What do you thing any other ways people an help them selfs to get out of debts?

Improving bad credit is harsh situation Shocked
I think the next step after you will put away your credit cards is to get a copy of your cretit report from one of major credit bureaus! That is how you'll know which accounts needs work and which are just fine.
Do not put in any more credit card applications. it will will only decrease your credit score even worth.

take care and be patient...

Plastic is absolutely right, to get started you definitely need to get your credit report. That way you'll know all inaccuracies and can fix it. Also, all you delinquent accounts will be there, so you can start working on them as well.

In the bad credit situation some people don't know what to do and they litterally loosing control by keeping charge their credit cards. I agree with MoBi - you definately need to stop using them.
Well, if you do not know what to do next, get the help of PROFESSIONALS would be helpful.
Resources, like consumer credit counseling, are available to assist you. If you are overwhelmed by your credit situation, seek professional assistance. You can locate a credit counseling agency through the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

Take care.

If you've got bad credit you can still get a credit card. You'll just pay more, and the terms of your card deal will be much stiffer than the average cardholder has to deal with.
But handle that deal and you can begin to rebuild your credit and get back to better and better card deals.

As we can see people have so many ways to improve their credit!
Don't be tempted by miracle cures and credit card offers.
So, now we can see so-calld credit rebuild plan:

Develop a spending plan so you can keep track of where your money's going.

Trim your spending.

Use credit as little as possible. Pay it off quickly.

Use a secured credit card; it's one of the best ways to rebuild your credit and still keep yourself in line.

Obtain copies of your credit reports and make sure they are correct.

Be disciplined with your checking and savings accounts.

What else can be your advice?

Well, Steve B,
I have to agree that you can get credit card even with bad credit. But you have to remember more likely you will be able to get only secured credit card.
In this way it is safer for credit banks and for a person with bad credit. With unsecured credit card you can get in the same 'trap' of credit card debts.
Secured credit card is the best way to improve your spoiled credit!
If you cannot get it from your bank, try Orchard Bank.
