Dear Valter,

Remember, if you are over 13 you can have a credit card. Well, it seems like that you have to have a bank account with money on it.
I don't think that they will let you take as much as money you want without any backup for the bank.

However, your business is so important that credit card companies may offer you gifts— a free Frisbee, T-shirt, or coffee mug—and other trinkets.

They just want to get your application. And they want you so badly, they'll likely approve your application even if you're currently without a job.

Benefits from having a student credit card are obvious:
1. Most important that student credit card is the first step to youe perfect credit history!
2. Student credit card helps you handle textbook expences.
3. Pay your tuition with your student credit card.

This is not the complete benefit list of using credit cards. Study them closer in our Student Credit Cards category on home page.
Let me offer some of them:

It's hard to believe that a student under 18 with no income can have a creditcard. Most banks won't let anyone under 18 have a checking account unless it is opened as a secondary under a parent's primary.

The bank where I hold my account let my son open an account that way. Even the teller that opened it for us said that that rule is so outdated. They can drive and vote, in some States, at 16, but can't open an account until they are 18.

Dear Haider,

Student credit cards are issued for college students, not high school. Most do have some source of income, either from a job, student loans or parents. Student credit card are VERY common and beneficial.
As we mentioned before you just have to have a checking account with particular ammount of money on it.

Hi there!
Now-a-days every student is showing interest in purchasing credit card .
Getting a credit card is the first step to building credit while in college.
Credit card companies have seemed to develop a passion for giving college kids student credit cards.
A lost or stolen credit card is easy to replace; cash once lost is gone forever.
Credit cards provide access to credit without having to undergo credit checks.
A degree establishes your rite of passage and mastery of a subject; a well-managed credit card establishes you as a creditworthy individual.

My advise: Get your student credit card as soon as possible!

When I was a student I got two cards and started on using and understand credit early. Student credit cards can be evil if you start using them without caution. If you don't have money to spend do not use your student credit card...juset save first and then buy what you want.

Hi folks!
I think the biggest advantage of Student Credit Cards for college students is that they are easier to get approved for.
Banks think (not without reason) that today's students are tomorrow's high-paid professionals, so they are often willing to take a chance on somebody with very limited credit history.
That's not the case for non-students.

Hi there,

I heard that when you own a student credit cards you can get some discounts on travel, hotels, and entertainment. if it is true, do you need to pay annual membership fee?
Does anybody know which student credit cards have such benefits?

Well, I have to agree with bigD. Sometimes student credit cards have more cons than pros!
Nowadays, students are relying more and more on credit cards and other bank debt.
Unfortunately, most bank debt starts attracting high interest rates once students graduate, and can be difficult to pay back their student credit cards debts.
So, my advice is to stay on the safe side and not spend more than you have or you can pay off before graduation.
