Sometimes they send some really good promotional offers in the mail, but at the end of the day, I think you better of to compare the offers on the sites like creditcardmix.com to see side by side different offers and their benefits. It is kind of complicated to compare credit cards and their benefits when informatrion is in different places. It is really cool that there are sites like creditcardmix.com where you can compare most of Discover offers and choose one that is appropriate for your needs. You are absolutely right, bigD, pre-approved offers should not be taken as a guarantee that one will be approved 100%. These are only results of preliminary bulk verification of one’s creditworthiness. Credit card issuers can still reject your application after further processing of your case, if they find that your credit standing does not comply with their requirements.
