Question Since I started looking into building up my credit report I've come accross some conflicting information in relation to how many different credit cards one person should have. One place said that you should have no more than two or three credit cards total (including store cards) and the other said you should try and get a lot of credit card as the more you have will help your credit score?

So which one is it?

i holds about three cards
i think if you apply for to many cards
you will soon found that you are becoming to rely on cards
then you are the slave of the cards
many examples showed that negative card users get bankrupt!

I would stick with the number of 2-3 credit cards. This way I can keep track more easily.
Too many lines of credit can have a negative impact on your credit score.

Dear, malina!

There is no limit on how many credit cards or credit accounts you can have. I would not recommend anyone applying for more than 2-3 credit cards in a short period of time. If you keep the balances on your accounts fairly low and make payments on time then, I don't think you will have any problems in improving your credit score.

Here is an article for you to get an idea on what can influence your credit score: What is Credit Score?

I have 10+ credit cards and no problems at all with my credit. It's more about do you have the ability to pay off those cards than how many you have. The problems is some people just get more cards because they have maxed out there other cards.

Very Happy many peolpe refuse credit cards ownership because they think it will bring them many problems, such as debts and bankruptcy!
Posibilyty that it will happen is high, but for those who cannot manage their spendings. Some people just do not know all of advantages that credit card companies offer their members!
If you know how to handle a credit card, you may be surprised to find out that they, just like your friends, can actually make your life easier. Don't look at your credit cards as potential menaces because, if used wisely, these cards can be your best financial friends!

Keep positive attitude to your Credit Cards!

I myself think that a person should not have too many cards. Actually, more than one card is already a lot. Credit cards in their essence are just easy ways of borrowing money. If you borrow more than your calculated credit limit is on one of your cards, you are drawing more than you can probably afford without losing your comfort level.

I agree with DanV8, don't get too many credit cards! I'll be happy to get at least one. Many people who have few credit cards seat in debts.
Ithink tha safety tip is not spend more than you have. Wink
